400 CRAFTERS ON OCT. 11

CITY , N.J.--- Over 400
crafters will be featured in this City's 20th annual
Fall Block Party set for Sat., Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. The Festival, the largest outdoor event of its
kind in South Jersey , extends for one mile from 5 th
to 14 th Sts. on Asbury Avenue in the downtown. Many
crafters are also located at the Tabernacle Grounds,
6 th and Asbury Ave.
The
craft show is juried (products are checked ahead of
time to insure quality). Carolyn Murphy, director of
the event, requires vendors to provide color photographs
of their specialties and proof that the crafts are authentic.
This attention to detail has attracted many of the best
crafters on the East Coast with dealers coming from
Maine to Florida .
The
block party also includes an array of foods including
a Greek specialties, seafood, ribs, pork, funnel cakes,
pizza, water ice, hot dogs and more.
New
cars will be displayed on 9 th Street between Asbury
and West Avenues. Public Service displays will be set
up on 9 th Street between Asbury and Central Avenues.
There will be free pony rides and face painters for
children at the Tabernacle Grounds from
11
a.m. to 4 p.m.
Entertainment
is scheduled throughout the block party from 11 a.m.
to 4 p.m. The program includes Tidal Wave, a “Beach
Boys” type band at Ocean City Home Bank, 10 th and Asbury
Ave. , the Habaysino Zydeco Trio, 14 th and Asbury Ave.
, Dick Sierota, one man band, 7 th and Asbury Ave. and
instrumentalist and singer, Tony DeLuca, 900 block
of
Asbury Ave.
All
City parking lots will be free the day of the block
party. There will be free parking and shuttle service,
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., from the airport 26 th and Bay Ave.
and soccer field off Tennessee Ave. Free parking will
also be available at the Transportation Center, 10 th
and Haven, in back of McDonald's and at the municipal
lot at 6 th St. off Boardwalk
Boardwalk
merchants will hold table sales the entire weekend and
there will be a Seafood Center at the Music Pier, Boardwalk
and Moorlyn Terr. Saturday through Monday. Shops and
City restaurants will be open. Many hotels and motels
offer block party
weekend
specials.

City presents two block parties every year, one the
first weekend in May and the other on the Saturday of
