IMPORTANT:
There has been one cancellation in the First Fright
activities this weekend. The HAUNTED HAYRIDE scheduled
for Fri., Oct. 24 will not be held. It will be back
next year.
First
Fright activities include: Friday, Oct. 24, there will
be a costume dance for children from 6th to 8th grades
at the Sports and Civic Center, 6 th St. off Boardwalk
from 7:30 to 10p.m. Admission is $4. Also on Friday
a Frankenstein Memorabilia Show begins at Stainton's
Square, 8th and Asbury Ave. Hours are 4
p.m. till 9p.m.

on Sun. Admission
is free.
On
Sat., Oct. 25, there are four events. Asbury Avenue
merchants will sponsor a Trick or Treat in the downtown
from noon till 3 p.m. A costume contest for kids and
their pets is set for 11 a.m. at City Hall Annex, 901
Asbury Ave. Entry is free. Prizes will be awarded. There
will be a haunted house at City Hall on Sat. from 6
to 10p.m. , 9th and Asbury Ave. , admission $5.
The
Ocean City Pops Orchestra presents a Halloween Concert,
8 p.m.
at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terr. The audience
is invited to come in costume dressed as Frankenstein
or one of the other characters from the classic monster
films. Those dressed in non-classic monster costumes
will also be judged by Dr. Frankenstein, who will visit
all of the First Fright activities. Tickets are $15
and $8, available at City Hall Annex 901 Asbury Ave.

On
Sun., Oct. 26, rides will be open at Wonderland Pier
from 1
to 4p.m.
Admission is $10 for all rides. The Frankenstein Memorabilia

WELCOME
NIGHT: The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce Welcome
Night for new residents is set for Wed., Oct. 29 from
7
to 9p.m.
at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terr. There
will be many booths set up to provide information of
interest to local residents, free refreshments and give-aways.
Visitors will be able to talk to representatives of
many local organizations. First Night Information will
be available. Call

HALLOWEEN
PARADE: The City's 56 th Annual Halloween Parade sponsored
by the Ocean City Exchange Club is set for Thurs., Oct.
30 th at 7:15 p.m.
The Route is from
6 th to 11th Sts.
on Asbury
Ave.
Entry
is free. Marchers may register at the Sentinel Ledger
Office, 8th St. and Haven Ave. or the Richards Agency,
34th and Haven Ave. during regular business hours.
Late
entries from the marching divisions only will be taken
at G.G.'s Diamond Taylor Shop at the corner of 6th and
Asbury Ave. at 6:30p.m.
Grand
Marshal is Fred Miller, author of "Ocean City ,
America 's Greatest Family Resort," a new and comprehensive
history of the community. Copies are now available at
local book stores.
Parade
goers who correctly guess the identity of the Mystery
Marcher will be eligible to win a savings bond.
Activities
begin at 6:15 p.m.
with a cheerleading
competition in front of City Hall, 9 th and Asbury
Ave.
There
are eight divisions in the Parade including decorated
floats (commercial and non-commercial) and marchers
in various categories. They will compete for awards.
The Pitman Hobo Band and Bubba Mac Blues Band will be
featured.
The
Boy Scouts will collect canned and dry food during the
evening to benefit the Ocean City Food Cupboard. For

BY REQUEST: Here's a way to start November off on the

TRAIL
OR TWO CITIES: Start November off on both the right
foot and left foot by entering the Trail of Two Cities
5K race/walk over the 9th
Street Causeway.
The event starts at JFK
Park
in Somers Point
and ends at the Transportation
Center
in Ocean
City
.
This
is the one time of year that you can legally navigate
the Causeway and enjoy the beautiful scenery on foot.
Many just participate to take photos and for a pleasant
workout.
There
are prizes for various age categories, male and female.
Pre-registration is $15, the day of the race is $20.
Families of four can pre-register for $35. All who pre-register
will be receive T Shirts.

Arts
Center
, 17th and Simpson
Ave., is displaying
an interesting exhibit of surreal folk sculptures by
Lennart Shapovalino in its main gallery. Admission is
free. The exhibit runs through the end of October.
