Can we arrive early?
The Scarborough Parking lot has 24 spots. Since checkout time is 11 a.m. and departing guests should be gone, we do permit arriving guests to pick up a parking pass as early as noon on the day they arrive. Please understand that room keys still won’t be handed out until 2 p.m.
Typically during June, July, and August this policy is not changed, however, during the off-season when we have less guests (May, September, October) this policy may be adjusted for more parking time at our discretion.
Can we have a late check-out or early check-in?
Early check-ins and late check-outs may be accommodated on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please let our front desk know you would like this option ahead of time. To accommodate this need we will have to have extra staff on hand so a $25 fee for the first hour and a $10 fee for each additional hour will be applied to your account.
Do you have an elevator/elevators?
Unfortunately, we are a historic building that has good old-fashioned staircases. We will be happy to assist you with your bags, but if stairs are an issue this may not be the right property for your needs while on vacation.
What is the tax?
The Scarborough Inn is subject to a 7% New Jersey sales tax and a 5% Hotel tax.
Do you offer group discounts?
We do offer group discounts for guests that book 5 or more rooms.
Can I show my friend the room?
Unfortunately only registered guests are permitted in the rooms. Non-registered guests are permitted to use the common areas (porch, living room, lobby) with registered guests.
Can I use the showers after I check out?
Registered Guests who have checked out and moved their cars are permitted to come back and rinse off and use the bathrooms. Please note, however, that we do not provide towels for your use after check-out. In order to keep our amenities open for current guests, we ask that only the registered departing guests use this amenity and that they don’t bring friends or other family along.
Do you offer Parking?
Yes we offer free off-street parking on our property. We are two blocks from the beach and (busiest part of the) boardwalk, and three blocks from the downtown shopping and dining district (Asbury Avenue). You can pretty much park your car and walk everywhere from the Scarborough.
Do you offer free Beach Passes?
Yes, we offer each registered guest free use of a beach pass. The Beach passes, like the parking passes, can usually be picked up after 12 p.m. (not before) on the day of arrival. Your room key, however, won’t be handed out until 2 p.m. To ensure all arriving guests have a beach pass, departing guests must return the beach passes by 11 a.m. check-out. Guests who don’t return the beach passes upon check-out will be charged $25. Sorry, since we have to replace that pass for the next guest(s), we do not offer refunds if you find the beach pass after we charge you.
What happens if we leave something behind on our vacation?
Please call us at 609-399-1558 and describe the item to the best of your ability. We will check with our housekeeping staff and sometimes even check the rooms ourselves. If we find it our policy is to ship the item C.O.D. either First Class (least expensive) or Priority Mail (fastest), depending on your preference. We maintain a "lost and found" file for up to 3 months; after this time frame, we "recycle, donate, discard" the item(s) in the best manner possible.
