We hope that you and yours are happy and in the best of health.  To returning guests, thank you so much for choosing to visit with us during your Ocean City, NJ vacation; we appreciate your patronage and look forward to welcoming your return.

This year we are celebrating two important milestones! The Scarborough Inn will be in her 115th Summer Season plus Brandie and Steve Cesari are celebrating 25 years as innkeepers!  Therefore, be looking for some incredible Specials and Packages to mark these significant occasions & join the celebration this year!

With a stellar location in the heart of the island’s Historic District, inn guests have many options and opportunities to create your perfect getaway!  Plan an active vacation, knowing you are just steps from the beach, boardwalk, restaurants, shopping, and a recreation complex that features tennis and pickleball courts, shuffleboard, basketball, a track, and a small playground, too. Or choose a relaxed and indulgent visit that includes therapeutic massage, gourmet meals, and a rocking chair on our 100-foot wraparound front porch!

What's New at the Scarborough Inn?
Just like every year, several rooms have been re-decorated over the winter.  Look for updated photos of the Seaside, Sindia, Fairhope, and Aerie later this spring.  In addition, all guest room closet interiors are repainted, and the oak fixtures in all bathrooms have been stained and polished anew.
The fire escape is also freshly painted and the exterior painting of shingles and siding continues.  The main staircase bannister is refinished and all dining room table bases are being repainted, as I write.

Spring flowers are already pushing up through the soil in the front gardens and birds are searching for nesting sites around the inn. When warmer weather arrives, annual flowers will be added to the gardens and hanging plants will adorn the front porch and the patio. Roses, lilies, peonies, iris, and lilacs will all bloom in their turn – bringing bright splashes of seasonal color to the inn.  What a beautiful sight!

The Scarborough Inn will be absolutely glowing for her 115th Season!

What's new in Ocean City?

The most visible change this year is the spectacular new Route 52 bridge and gateway project that will bring vacationers and residents onto the island.  Four lanes are to be open by Memorial Day weekend and the entire project is expected to be completed this summer!
Take a look as you come over the new bridge – you will have an impressive view…all the way over the island to the Atlantic Ocean!  A new walkway will give pedestrians and bicyclists an opportunity to enjoy this vista, too.

In addition, the mayor has proposed improvements to the Downtown area and repairs to the Boardwalk as part of a multi-year plan. Projects include:

  • Replace boardwalk & substructure from 5th to 12th streets (9 yrs.)
  • Beach replenishment (3-yr cycle)
  • City Hall Annex renovation (including restrooms & offices)
  • Overhaul of Carey Field track & playing fields/ artificial turf
  • Street paving at various locations
  • Add public restrooms at two street ends (locations TBD) + at 15th. Street Playground
  • Install new lights at playing fields (5th. Street & Bay Ave.)
  • Bicycle/ pedestrian improvements

Finally, Corson’s Inlet State Park is the site targeted by the state of New Jersey for a boardwalk that would connect the park to 59th. Street.
According to a recent news article this proposal would be advantageous because “…a rail trail dead-ends in the marshes less than 100 yards from Ocean City streets, and the boardwalk would allow hikers to complete a loop through the park by connecting to an existing beachside trail via 59th Street.”
