Autumn is a fabulous time to visit the Jersey Shore; vacationers can enjoy many of the delights of Summer while appreciating the slower pace and cooler temperatures of the “quiet season.” Guests of the Scarborough Inn Bed & Breakfast enjoy our convenient location – within walking distance to the Beach, Boardwalk, Downtown Shopping and Restaurants, plus a cornucopia of special events and activities that continue throughout the Fall!
There are also many interesting destinations to explore within a short drive of the island. One of these is Historic Cold Spring Village. I had an opportunity to chat with two of the village “residents” during this week’s Ocean City Farmer’s Market and they shared information about upcoming Special Events:
Seafarers’ Weekend (August 28 – 29) featuring pirates, and skirmishes (at 12 noon and 3pm), an antique boat display, duck decoy carving, and glassworking. Yo Ho!
Revolutionary War Encampment (September 4 – 5) Authentically garbed reenactors will present encampments, infantry tactics, and more. The Story of Old Glory will tell the history of the American flag.
Civil War Weekend (September 11 – 12) Demonstrations of infantry and artillery drills, mounted cavalry, a field hospital, and vendors of reproduction merchandise will be featured. Battle reenactments will take place both days at 2pm.
Cold Spring Village Folk Festival ( September 18 – 19) Featuring a bevy of talented performers including: The Towheads – Irish Jr. Fiddle Champ, The Snake Brothers, Jim Albertson, Ian Thomas, and more. Schedule varies each day.
So, when you are visiting the Scarborough Inn, ask for details and directions if you would like to enjoy the Autumn Special Events at Historic Cold Spring Village, 720 Route 9, Cape May, NJ, or learn about other events or locations in the Cape May County area.
