In January, we attended the PAII (Professional Association of Innkeepers International) Conference in Charleston, SC and one of the “unintended” lessons of the event is a reminder of the unique lodging offered by Bed and Breakfast Inns.
|Scarborough Inn – Garden|
Of course we know how special places like the Scarborough Inn are; it is why we love owning and operating our B&B. But the reminder was especially powerful because the conference was held in a hotel, yes – a hotel! It quickly became apparent that despite the professionalism of the staff and the size of the hotel, that what was missing was the SOUL of the place. It could have been anywhere.
The design and decor of the building exactly matched that in many other states, every guest room was alike, simple requests had to be repeated daily to different staff members, and although we were there five nights, we continued to be anonymous. You get the idea…..
Clearly the Bed and Breakfast experience is “a Better Way to Stay!” Maybe you appreciate the fact that many inns are housed in historic buildings – obsolete save for their conversion into unique lodging options. Perhaps you appreciate the fact that you have the opportunity to become acquainted with fellow travelers or the staff – or not – it’s your choice. Many B&B guests like the individualized decor in Guest Rooms and Common Areas reflecting the tastes, interests, and experiences of the innkeepers or of the area. Menus frequently feature fresh, local ingredients prepared in ways that are unique to the region – like New Jersey blueberries or tomatoes – locally made sausage or scrapple – and Nana’s recipe for chocolate cake! Guests of Bed and Breakfasts are special – they appreciate unique lodging options with personality and charm!
Staying at the Scarborough Inn is more than occupying a room…it is a special experience and we look forward to welcoming you soon!
