Historic Cold Spring Village recently welcomed celebrity chef, Tony Clark, to The Grange Restaurant.  Clark’s credentials and experience are extraordinary and Cape May County is already embracing his arrival with great enthusiasm.

Recently, a group of us went to The Grange to sample Tony Clark’s storied cuisine.  Dinner started with an array of appetizers including Deviled Eggs – with a stuffing that was creamy smooth and laced with a subtle touch of mustard.  The Cuban Black Bean Soup is a delightful mixture of spicy heat with small chunks of bean and a touch of salty bacon. Wedge Salad is an enormous portion of Iceberg with an Asian inspired dressing and everything was accompanied with warm, whole grain bread and butter.  And that was just the beginning!

The entree selections included Southern Fried Chicken with a drizzle of Gravy, Prime Rib with Horseradish Sauce, or Grilled Salmon with Chive Sauce.  Between all of us, we tried every one of the entrees and everyone was delighted with their selections.  Vegetables are served “family style” and included Sauteed Zucchini with caramelized onions, Steamed Broccoli, and Potato Salad.  Every choice seems familiar, but all had a delicious and unique twist and were beautifully presented.

Dinner includes a choice of beverages and ended with a delectable, subtly flavored Toasted Almond Cheesecake. Scrumptious!  We brought our own wine, but the restaurant also offers selections from Hawk Haven Winery (a Cape May County vineyard).  This was the Early Bird Special and the price is an astonishing $18.00 for the complete meal.  The regular Dinner menu features very creative, not-to-be-missed gourmet offerings.  Clark will be adding Breakfast and Lunch in the near future.

The service was attentive and friendly and the restaurant is housed in an historic Grange (hence the name) and sits adjacent to Seashore Road at the entrance to Historic Cold Spring Village.  The menu changes frequently and is inspired by fresh, local ingredients so it’s always a new culinary adventure.

Experience The Grange by Tony Clark very soon, I expect that the wait will be very long in the near future.
