“Great Falls National Park” in Patterson, NJ recently became part of the National Park Service. In fact, it is the 397th national park in the United States.
Located on 35-acres, the new national park features a 77-foot waterfall – the second largest in the East (Niagara Falls is number one). After the American Revolution, the falls’ might was harnessed to provide power for the American Industrial Revolution and to help build the economy.
With a limited and stereotypical reputation, you may be surprised to learn that New Jersey actually boasts thirteen national parks within her boarders – Great Falls is the latest!
