|Things To Do With Dad in Ocean City|
When visiting Ocean City for a vacation getaway with the family, plan activities that will appeal to everyone. Happily, there are fun things to do on the island (and around the area) for all ages…and all interests. However, with Father’s Day approaching, this post focuses on “Fun Things to Do With Dad.”
Ocean City Historical Museum (Ocean City Community Center, 1735 Simpson Avenue) – Check out the artifacts from the shipwreck of the Sindia off the Ocean City beach. See an “Ottinger Lifecar” now on exhibit! Donation suggested
OC Beach Patrol Museum (520 Bay Ave., inside the Bayside Center) – a mini-museum detailing some of the history of our local life-saving service. Free
Historic Cold Spring Village (720 Route 9 South) – a fascinating living-history site in Cape May County with frequent special events and themed weekends. Admission
NASW Aviation Museum – (500 Forrestal Rd., at the Cape May Airport) Enjoy a hands-on history of flight with an emphasis on New Jersey contributions.
OCNJ Beach – A favorite place to enjoy a day with Dad; the Scarborough Inn provides complimentary use of BEACH TAGS to guests. In addition, we have a Bathhouse adjacent to the inn. Just a 5-minute walk from our B&B, too!
“CLAM DRAIN: the Shell Game” – Fun new game, developed by a local family using shells collected on our First St. Beach as molds for the game pieces. Available in a rainbow of colors and for sale in the Scarborough Inn’s Gift Shop.
Kayak Tours – Get up-close-and-personal with the birds, water fowl, and unique back-bay environment of the island on a kayak tour.
Biking & Hiking – opportunities abound for dads who enjoy biking and/or hiking! Choose a bike ride on the boardwalk in the morning or around the island. Ask for assistance locating our local Bike Trail, if you like. Serious bikers will enjoy the Rt 52 multi-use pathway over the bridge into Somers Point or perhaps pedaling the “blue highways” of Cape May County. Hiking can be as simple as a traversing the Ocean City boardwalk or beach or a slightly more ambitious hike via the trails in a local park or nature area.
Live entertainment and movie theaters (with digital equipment) provide a wide variety of offerings throughout the summer. For example, the the OC POPS, the Summer Concert Series, and the OCTC (Ocean City Theatre Company) all provide live entertainment featuring professional musicians and actors. The Moorlyn Theater on the boardwalk focuses on family-friendly movies and the Strand Theater offers first-run and popular current movies.
Check with us when you arrive at the Scarborough Inn and we will help you locate the perfect Things to Do with YOUR Dad – whenever you visit!
